CDAC stands for Community Design Activism Center. This program through Louisiana Tech offers real-world experience to young architecture students. CDAC partners with different members of the surrounding community to design future proposals. This allows students to understand client communication and budget constraints. Students earn internship hours for participating in CDAC.
The local Boys & Girls Club of North Louisiana was presented with the opportunity for a brand new facility after the city approved of a new site location. After meeting with faculty and listening to their needs and wants, it was obvious they needed to expand on their classrooms and gathering areas. The gymnasium was at the center of all activities, therefore it became the center of the design proposal. Circulation around the gym allowed for multiple lockdown points throughout the building for safety concerns. The project was completed with Revit and Twinmotion.

A local episcopal church was faced with a new need for an outdoor worship area after suffering through a previous tornado. Their beloved oak tree was knocked down leaving them without shade or a private place to gather outdoors, where they hold many services. We had the opportunity to design a brand new outdoor sanctuary to fit their needs including extra storage, lighting, and a columbarium. The design was inspired in remembrance of the oak tree that once stood there.
